Trail Description

The Lackawanna River Heritage Trail begins near the confluence of the Susquehanna and Lackawanna Rivers in Pittston, however the first developed section of trail is in Taylor 6.5 miles north of the confluence near Keyser Creek. The trail continues north through the city of Scranton for 7 miles utilizing paved sections and the levee system. North of Scranton a mix of borough streets and trails take trail users through the Mid Valley and up to Carbondale. Between Scranton and Carbondale, there are 17 miles of trail developed with more to come over the next two years. North of Carbondale the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail merges into the D&H Rail Trail and continues north to the New York State Border. This trail is part of a 70 mile trail system, including the D&H Rail Trail. The trail is walking, running, biking, and pet friendly.
