Located in the heart of historic iron country, this winding trail in Pine Grove Furnace State Park passes two lakes and meanders through the woodlands of Michaux State Forest. Check out the Pine Grove Furnace iron master’s mansion, furnace ruins and other industry buildings in the park. The trail follows the route of the 1860s-vintage South Mountain Railroad. Begin at the Appalachian Trail parking lot near the Furnace Stack Day Use Area. A short paved section leads to Fuller Lake. Cross a small bridge, and continue to a gravel service road along Mountain Creek. You’ll go through a gate onto Old Railroad Bed Road. The trail ends where this road meets Pine Grove Road.
