Upper Monongahela River Water Trail

The Upper Mon Water Trail extends about 60 miles from Fairmont, West Virginia, to Rice’s Landing in Pennsylvania. Generally, the current is mild, but the river can be hazardous to canoeists during high water and during the passage of large boats. Several dams require careful attention to signs, buoys, and locks. There are many primitive camping possibilities along the Mon, but much of the property is privately owned. Remember to get permission to camp and to use facilities.
