Trail Description

Most of the trails are moderate to strenuous. There are some steeper climbs that are long but not difficult. The footing is mostly rough gravel and some larger stones intermixed with some patches of dirt and bedrock. Horses should wear trail boots. There are no streams or ponds along the way that horses can drink from and little grass. Bring hay and water. The trails are marked well with small green trail markers with horses on them. Most are loops. There are some trails for hikers only, and in winter, some of the trails are the same as the snowmobile trails. There are two parking lots, the northernmost one holds up to 4 small horse trailers. The one by the fire tower is larger holding up to 8. These are nice trails that are good for training horses for endurance, for bikers, or hikers. Snowmobiles also have access to certain trails. They go through woods and along some small fields. There are a few scenic views and plenty of wildlife to watch. Open seasonally. Please enjoy the trail between the 3rd Sunday in January to the 2nd Friday in September or on all of the Sundays in between. Please ride around Spring Turkey Season in April and May. Some days the hunting is only in the morning.
