From 1908 to 1932, the Northern Electric Street Railway operated an interurban trolley line between Scranton, Lake Winola and Montrose. The Countryside Conservancy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting lands and waters in and near the Tunkhannock Creek Watershed is working to turn a 14-mile section of the right-of-way into a non-motorized recreational trail to connect Clarks Summit, Glenburn, Dalton, La Plume, Factoryville and eventually Lake Winola.
