Trail Description

The Daniel Boone Homestead offers various recreational opportunities along with abundant historical activities. Paved roads exist for walking and hiking around the historic site. These access the various buildings constructed by the Boone, Maugridge, and DeTurk families that lived here and take visitors through a typical day in the life of this region’s eighteenth century settlers. The Homestead also has bridle trails available to both equestrians and hikers free-of-charge. Those interested in walking on the gravel paths winding through the Historic Area must visit the Visitor Center first to be assessed a three-dollar historic grounds fee. There are also fishing and wildlife viewing opportunities at the man-made Daniel Boone Lake, free-of-charge, provided a valid fishing license is in use. Picnicking and camping opportunities are available at the Homestead as well; most require advance reservations and a small fee, see the Daniel Boone Homestead website for details.
