Trail Description

This picturesque trail meanders along the Clarion River and Little Toby Creek between charming small towns. You will be treated to spectacular mountain, forest, and water scenery, possible wildlife sightings, and signs describing the area’s history. You’ll even cross Little Toby Creek on a swinging bridge. The trail uses the abandoned corridor of the 1886 Clearfield to Ridgway Rail Company. After the line closed in the 1960s, Penn Central bought the corridor, running trains there until 1968. The rail-trail opened in 1992. As the trail travels north from Brockway, it follows the creek through lush forested hills. A little past the trail halfway point, the creek meets the river and the trail begins following the riverbank. A 1.8 mile section of trail runs adjacent to an active railroad line. The trail is located near Allegheny National Forest; during hunting season, wear a fluorescent orange vest and remain on the trail.
