Conewago Recreation Trail

5.02 Miles
Lancaster, Lebanon

Trail Description

Running along the quiet, meandering Conewago Creek and through rich Lancaster County farmland, most of this trail is shaded by trees that edge fields and meadows. The trail occupies the corridor of the Cornwall-Lebanon Railroad , a private railroad that operated for nearly 100 years. From the trailhead on Pennsylvania Route 230, the path goes northeast. There are six, well-marked road crossings; the Mill Street crossing is a bit tricky, featuring ramps and a curve. At the Lebanon County line the Conewago Rail Trail joins the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail. Signs and a change of surface make the transition from one trail to the other.
